Why all the major 7ths?

I did a lot of jazz charts in high school. I'd usually turn a tonic chord into a 6th or 7th. Turned a lot of dominant chords into 13ths. For some reason, I'm really keen on major 7ths and 9ths. - Though I don't compose them in the way a classical composer would, I think that my albums tend to have motivic and thematic development. That's why Paul and I spent a huge amount of time debating the order of the tracks. Much like with The Perfumed Garden, it took a collaboration to find the right order. A few other people chimed in, like Dave Grohl and Ringo, but it was mostly Paul and I. I wrote the songs, but Paul produced the recordings and told me to add bits etc. - James and Mary saw early cuts: Paul told me afterwards he was doing it for his whānau.

Though I've got a keyboard that does decent synths, my goal for the album was to use some of my previous ideas, like found percussion, with Paul's type of song. Shipwrecked isn't intended to be as classical, so it'll be a mix of charts and notation.
