Who do I think I am?

I think I'm Amanda Michelina. That's the obvious answer, plus now that I've read Bullshit and Jellybeans, the Shadbolt parallels are too obvious to deny. I wouldn't say I collect personalities like Bowie, but my persona is totally a fusion of my jazz/musicals instincts and my love of Kiwi rock'n'roll. I spent most of 2021 devising her, and 2022 was when I launched her. I wish I was Batman or Spiderman, but yeah... I don't really see myself as a hero. It's an unpopular cause, and hence I'm probably more infamous as a thorn in the side of the right wing than as a hero for the left wing. - Real me is trans, but Amanda Michelina is the version I created for social media. I tried the live thing at the open mics, but it wasn't particularly awesome. While my street theatre has been a hit. I think my songs play better on the videos than live, though people totally got into Machine Fatigue when I premiered it at the open mic: laughs in the right places, and that was sans amplification. 👍

- Even though it really limits my options, I prefer to sing/play without amplification, which limits me to small venues like the Bluegrass Society or Thistle Hall. The Chapel at St. Paul's is also a good venue. Gary's place in Lindale was pretty awesome with the barn, but that was a Covid casualty. 😢 I could have filled the room at the Tory Whanau evening as well - that size of room is my speed.

That's Michelle's story, both in the past and over the last several years. It's fiction, but it's close enough to the truth.

'just overdub Shipwrecked: make it an album'

No. The SIS and other pissed-off groups will need to stop forcing me to compromise. If I'd wanted to sing the songs myself, I wouldn't have written a script. I'd much rather hear Ella or Ingrid sing
