Look, a lot of pop stars are doing musicals these days. People in the feature film world should check out her music videos as a director. She's definitely got the skills, and it's not like she's putting in all the money. Warner Brothers-Discovery are quite keen on Baby Face. Why? It's using an old film of theirs and we all like those 1930's and 1940's movies. - Is it an homage or a pastiche or the Great Gatsby? Honestly, we don't know yet. It's obviously playing with film noir iconography. The idea is that I'll use traditional instruments to orchestrate Taylor's songs. I'm expecting her to put some synth and some beats in some of the songs. As you can see with the lyrics, we're not afraid of contemporary language in the songs. In her mind, Lily can be whatever she wants. - Watching all the vids now: it's obvious that Taylor hasn't been out and gay since Covid. Her father died, and suddenly her gender dysphoria diagnosis was up for debate. Disney has this sick view that it's only for the screen. Taylor's like a man in real life.
Language-wise, my view is that the dialogue should seem plausible for the 1930's, but it's fine to lean into double entendres or other comic ironies involving modern use of the word.
