When might I consider performing?

When I damn well feel like it. That will be AFTER the law change that I'm currently campainging for. I refuse to perform when the actual thing that I want is an opportunity to get a real job as a real trans person in real society.
That requires gender protection laws.
When I have the same privileges that sexual minorities currently enjoy, and I've had time to do my book, then I might consider performing.

But telling me to perform because 'that's a place to be trans safely' is actually discriminatory and hindering the trans movement, as we should ALL be fighting to ensure the absolute right of trans people to be safe in ANY job that THEY choose.
That's theatre kids who present as cis at the office. I refuse to do so, and that is fair because legally I am entitled to my freedom of expression.
It's discriminating because it is stereotyping me on the basis of gender expression, and presuming that I'm not talented enough to get other jobs.
I actually like editing. I hate performing, and that's not a joke.
I'm good at my craft, but I'm actually a composer.
I don't care if you prefer it when I do covers or sing showtunes, I'm a composer. In fact, I'm a good enough composer that my musicals are known outside Aotearoa.

If RNZ could hire me, why not Reuters? Why not some public sector gig? Ken Avery wrote all those great songs while working for the NZBC.

I have this pet theory called the 'trannie ghetto', which is that it's quite acceptable to be trans and be an artist or a menial worker, but it's far more difficult to be out and trans and have a job that is substantial.
Now, some people are more conventional and take hormones, but even those people probably feel like they risk losing their jobs if they out themselves.
That's insane, and Australia has already fixed these laws. We're behind the Aussies, and that should send shivers down the spine of even conservative Kiwis.

Fix this law for me, and cease pressuring me. That's all I want from the 'community', given I fucking hate the queer community for fucking stepping on my toes constantly with their pathetic bullshit.
