I trust my actual friends, while I essentially don't trust Chloe.
I also don't have much faith or trust in Barbara.
Like, that's a nice fantasy, but realistically I'm not massively keen to be in a relationship.
Real me is way more interested in policy changes. Like, that gender bill is essentially my baby.
I feel like people hiring me to perform and be a queen would actually be perpetuating the lie that trans people have the same opportunities when it comes to jobs. I wish that were true, but it's patently not.
I'm plenty smart, and I'm good at this editing business, so I'm hoping that the Māori language skills, alongside the gender law reform, might help me get paid despite being a travesti.
If the HRCA (Harm Reduction Coalition Aotearoa) can move the needle on drug policy, that would be awesome, though I'm certainly aware that an academic-style policy wonks group might offend the drug culture. In general, the Dakumentary exists in part because of the dissatisfaction that the growers have over the medicinal cannabis regimes, and because the arrests continue to mount. The racism angle isn't a main theme in the film, but it was unavoidable. Arik shot some really great footage in the late 2000's, and I came across that while I was assembling the film. For me, the cannabis cause was like a lesson on race relations in New Zealand. I'd rather not add in a whole bunch more clips; it's 20 hours long with the song cycle, and that's plenty. I'm thinking a week-by-week release of episodes, followed by a fortnight break between the seasons.
