I stand by my statement in the Big Smoke: I don't want to do a bunch of covers.
That's totally boring to me, and why I'm not in a cabaret group.
For me, house parties are the venue for that type of material.
That doesn't apply to classical pieces: I don't see those as being 'covers', and that's actually the repertoire that I specialise in.
I also refuse to do a stage show if I can't control my team. That's why I've always refused: those people still don't respect me, but I'm not Bowie and I don't yearn to act or perform legit roles. Like, the only thing I do regarding theatre is that I compose operas and songs for plays, but I'm really disinterested in rehearsing them. Like, I sent a tape and a chord sheet of weep no more, and then was pleasantly surprised that they nailed it. I'm never going to want to act in a stage role, and I'm very plain about that on my website. For me, the real victory would be my enemies agreeing to let me interview them in an expose…
