can I take a joke?

Well, I attended the ambush last year by the Greens at the Tory Whanau arts hui, and I laughed at some of those jokes. However, It's not easy to have a sense of humour about being spied on for over 3 years. That's why I'm defensive: that's the byproduct of literally justifying everything in real-time to a bunch of bureaucrats. I feel like the people making jokes at my expense know far more about my life story than I know about them, and that's really unfair: I riff off the headlines, you've interrogated me relentlessly. Put yourself in my shoes, with the click at the other end of the line and implied threats of prison time, then see how much of a sense of humour you have... this is why my jokes are really dark: I think our current system is a tool of oppression. - That's also why I'm completely over the series idea -- this was a terrible way to develop a TV show, though it resulted in me being able to say no, as I'd written the scripts on spec. That's me telling the Americans who run our industry that I genuinely own my IP, and have chosen another path. I'm not going back to uni either. I don't think it's wise to hop onto a sinking ship, and it reeked of desperation from them about my script the one time I went to the campus (to return Carmen's memoirs). So, simply put, I don't care what deal the rest of you cooked up: I haven't faced any civil or criminal charges for my stunts. Nobody from the Film Commission or TVNZ or VUW has bothered to pick up the phone and ring me (or even email me), so I'm pretty much going to live my life as if the Tina show is dead, but I'm still filming bits and pieces. - Riffing off the AM panel show with Chloe and David Seymour... I realise that if there was genuine interest in my script that I'm turning down a huge sum of money, but ultimately it's my decision. I'm not interested in the notes that I received, and that (alongside attempting to steal my songs) pissed me off, and made me unwilling to compromise. Stop telling me which story to tell, and get onboard with the 2030 story.
