Why won't I sing roles?

Unlike Sir Paul, I'm a fully trained composer with a postgraduate degree. Writing opera is premised on the idea that my melodies are communicable. If I demonstrate the songs, it intimidates people. They can't imitate my voice, but my Perfumed Garden tunes are all written down. I don't sound like a Middle Eastern person, plus I find acting tedious. People want to possess my voice, but that's immaterial when the tunes are composed. Anyone could sing those songs, particularly the ones with narrow ranges. - I hate most modern pop-based musicals, and I'm not a big theatre person. Opera's a different realm. I see The Perfumed Garden as a Peter Brook extravaganza.

Has it ever occurred to you that people would respect me on the set if you did your job and told them to listen to the transvestite director rather than spreading bogus rumours? Unfortunately for you

I write musicals and opera so I can hear other people singing my songs. In doing so, they probably end up understanding me better. The pop songs are so I can sing them as part of my AM world.
