Why is violence (of a kind) necessary?

If you missed the animistic themes of my short stories, I'll say that, according to my own worldview, plants, animals, and even the land itself have some kind of personhood. This isn't unfamiliar in NZ, where rivers have been granted that status in recent years. So, from my perspective, the resource extractors really are raping and pillaging the land. - I think that symbolic violence in a movie might actually budge that needle slightly, particularly for those that have elaborate revenge fantasies (maybe that's just me). In my story, the greenies win, so that's a positive. Like, I make fun of the nutters, but I really do believe in all that eco stuff. I'm a hippie, and it's odd that people thought otherwise.
