Where did Shipwrecked on Islands come from?

Well, it started about 10 or 11 years ago as the second exercise musical, which was going to be an adaptation of Joe Dante's remake of Runaway Daughters. That's where two of the songs - When Can I Call My Life My Own, and A Dream Or Two - come from. They were supposed to be part of an I want quodlibet where the three leading ladies each sang a song, and then they'd all fit together. At some point, I gave up on writing the third song, and tried another number for the guy that Roger Corman plays in the movie, but eventually gave up. - Then, a few years later, I read about the milk bars of 1950's New Zealand and considered doing a similar musical about that, but never really pursued it. - Then my Dad died and I got into news, editing and activism. Eventually, it struck me that climate activism could be the hook for the road trip. Basically, I wanted to do a road trip musical.
