Where am I heading?

Well, obviously I intend to continue with making films, but I'm not really terribly concerned with making money off of those. As we've seen, I know the value of my own work, and I'm not compromising. I think that I've got a broad enough range of skills that I might get hired to write screenplays or movie scores, but I'm also quite into this news and editing thing. - My life is too chaotic for a stable long-term job, though. I wasn't really expecting to pick activist as a job, but it does take up probably around 30-40 hours per week at this level. - That's another area where I think National takes a very blinkered view of people: their whole idea of beneficiaries who aren't in work is a bunch of welfare queens (ironic, huh). Lots of my friends who have health conditions that make them long-term beneficiaries are also doing that unpaid work that anyone who lounges around the house is 'supposed' to do. One of the things that my stories demonstrate is that there's an entire subculture in NZ that's based around social use of illicit drugs, and all that other stuff that's in The Deuce. - As for making money off my music: I'm not so hopeful, but ultimately it doesn't matter if I'm able to make an income as a writer. Now that people are realising they want my stories, that might become a reality. My main goal with getting paid is to pay down or pay off my student debt, then ideally to buy a cheap house somewhere. Plus there's all the nice amenities, like buying takeaways. Publishing my scores on my website was more or less admitting that there isn't a huge amount of interest in performing those, but that people might find them interesting. However, it comes with the disclaimer in case there's serious interest in my musicals. - The languages thing is a hobby of mine, but this year I'm taking it seriously; possibly next year too if I do well .. I'm prepared to stick at it.

That's Michelle's story, both in the past and over the last several years. It's fiction, but it's close enough to the truth.

'just overdub Shipwrecked: make it an album'

No. The SIS and other pissed-off groups will need to stop forcing me to compromise. If I'd wanted to sing the songs myself, I wouldn't have written a script. I'd much rather hear Ella or Ingrid sing

Inferring some clues from The Guardian. Apparently, industry professionals thought that the lengthy post-production process for the four Disney/Sony Beatles films was suspicious. It was supposed to
