Hi, I realise that we share some common interests; for example, Pre-Raphaelite Art, which was the inspiration for Reginald.
Millais refers to the painter, not Millay the poet (though either is fine, to be honest).

As a keen student of musicals, I'm aware that you're a Peer in the House of Lords, or that you were until recently.
Here's my experience:
I've been attending Parliament on and off for around 5 or 6 years, and for the last 2 or 3 years I've become a regular.
Obviously, there's no House of Lords in New Zealand - though actually my party has designs on a separate Māori Parliament that I'm 100% supportive of - so my influence is mostly symbolic, but yeah it's certainly a good place to get ideas for shows.
My party is based on a longstanding tradition of satirical parties in New Zealand, but I'm taking it increasingly seriously. I'd like it to be slightly more than a propaganda wing for the opposition: the idea is to target people that are disenfranchised and form a party that represents their views.

I've got theories about why politics and opera are so entwined, but those are embryonic.
There's definitely some academic stuff for me to write, but I'm planning that for that 35-50 bracket. I'm still 29, though I turn 30 in May. 👋🏻
Alan Moore said that opera is alchemical in Promethea. People should trip out with that idea as a mantra/focus.
