You're arguing as if what Rameau said carried across the regions. The centrality of Paris to musical history is an invention of the French, and nobody else cares.
Regular people default to other things. That's why classical music is elitist.
But it's equally as difficult to master my kind of singing, though it's very difficult to teach.

I'm really repelled by modern opera. I'm ambivalent about modern musicals: some are good, but I prefer movies.
Ballet is something that I feel this strong attraction to, but I watch The Red Shoes more often than I go to dance performances. I'm really not interested unless it's dancers with a real band/orchestra.

After taking on Ken's advice, I'm not really interested in conducting my music.
I think Hamish might be good, but it's a question of really meeting him to find that out. Tbh I think my mum put the concerto idea in my head when we were watching La Valse etc. -- she was like 'that could be you in 15 years'
So, I thought about that, but I ultimately thought she'd be prouder if I wrote it as Mum usually likes my compositions.
Whether my feelings about Jane were directly poured into it... I really wasn't thinking about that. I was thinking more about Gondwanaland and all that Prehistoric stuff when I was composing in E -- the Disney version of the Rite, but updated for the modern bird dinosaurs that science really needs to get the lead out in creating Hollywood versions of for the modern audience.
