Never heard M'Lady until AFTER my EP. Everyone thinks they've invented the wheel... Glad They Were Playing was different largely because the harmonies actually sounded like Dunedin rock. Luke and Cass haven't even come close to writing an authentic NZ rock song. The rhyming is different, too. Those enjambed phrases are evident in my early music, but I'd say that getting into Don's stuff encouraged me to do those types of things.

Dunedin rock fused with polyfonk. That's basically my 'pop' sound, alongside the trash rock that was everywhere ('this is how you remind me' ... fill in the blank!).
