Re: James Ashcroft - I thought Talkback was alright, but I'm not a fan of the NZ TV industry. I think most of our shows suck. đź‘‹

And I guess I've always had a chip on my shoulder about the Film Commission. I came of age when Sir Peter published the inquiry I quoted, and also the Hobbit strikes. -

The tax rebates for foreign movies is something that really grinds my gears. Imagine if the Commission spent $300 million per year on NZ movies?

I realise it's economically necessary to offer some incentives for foreign movies, but it'd be great if some of the income generated was used to fund NZ films.

I thought my brother's Bluegrass Society gig was well-filmed, like a comedy album, but personally I thought the Fantasia was my equivalent: I might screen that too. 🥝

'Isn't Paul skimming too much off the top?'

Apple Corps and others are pissy that Sir Paul intends to take 50-60% of the profits for Working For Each Other. That's over $70 million USD. His view is that the two of us should split the bulk, giv

Dakumentary on American TV!

That's what Paul tells me. Given that WB-Discovery owned Newshub, it's a cheap deal. $1 million to clear all the non-WB clips, then it'll be on HBO etc. across the world. Apple Corps sold The Dakume
