Well, I made some tapes of me screaming 'no' about the Tina show; upsides of being really good at music is that my neighbours in my building just assume I'm an actor rehearsing, as they also hear the music. Totally plausible, given I'm repeating the same phrases, and in a way that's true; it's a rehearsal for if Steve Barr or any other smug prick wants to try and tell me what to do with my career. I've got beef with him, and pretty much the whole pro film industry, about how they treated my brother; Steve literally pretended not to know him when they ran into each other once. Meesh thought that was crap too.👎 - Shipwrecked is a much better idea; I mean, the trans debate in NZ is fine without my little contribution (that's the cool thing about Aotearoa - even as a trannie, I could choose to focus on weed 🍀), while the climate change musical is gold. That's my opinion, and ultimately, seeing as I own the IP for both stories, that's what matters. My snark is the same as always: if the theatre kids liked the Tina script, then why don't they make their own movie? I'm not part of their world, and I'd go out of my way not to cast them. - I checked with my property manager: nobody has complained about me, despite my sometimes erratic behaviour. Just like when I checked that the cops also weren't after me... So yeah, in my head it seems like the whole world is out to get me (incl. when sober), but I've never gotten in trouble in my life. I'm a rebel, but ultimately a gentle one - I thought my 2020 Ad campaign was a great demo of how I approach political debate. - My brother's facing assault charges IRL, though, and was arrested for breaching his bail conditions; spent last night in the cells. So yeah, I'm really sore at all my friends who took his side. 😤 People only realise that I'm a humanist when they read my FB feed or my blog, as yeah I'm somewhat distant IRL (years of abusive relationships, plus the toxic art music education). - There's probably a bit of masochism in my making the Weeded Out shorts even after I'd given up on the feature. But, for real, the web show is on hiatus until I get some new equipment. I'm not particularly keen to film the bikini skit or the Tina-Jade scene. The script for Weeded Out was a self-conscious polemic, and that tends to make for boring movies. Yeah, yeah, some people like Brecht, but that's not my bag. Shipwrecked is loosely based on two Joe Dante movies - Runaway Daughters and The Second Civil War: I think it's different enough that I'd be fine, plus whoever heard of those movies anyway? 🎞👽 Goodbye Pork Pie is an influence too, albeit an indirect one. - To the spies who I think are reading along: I think of Chloe as the model for Joanne, while for myself I'm more inspired by Dakta when it comes to speechifying. 👋 I'd love to write him a small part in Shipwrecked: he's got a lovely baritone, and has been a great boss. This is the Sinatra part of my career - making music for my gangster buddies. As for 'Too Close To The Sun': as I like to say, the only way Don could have seen the crazy post about cross-dressing etc. was because he was reading along .. I had 100 friends or less, so it was hardly a public post. That photo of him in drag was very real, though, so it was a reasonable assumption (coloured by a manic episode). - My songs are totally different too, though, yes, the EP used his method from the NZ on Screen video - it seemed like a good method, and it worked well. Rose's song was my normal songwriting method, though usually I don't arrange the song as I'm writing it. The Sands of Time stalled... I have a few fresh rhymes, but nothing substantial. The script has stalled too... the real floods are inspiring, but covering them for work was mostly really depressing, and it sorta killed the musical comedy flow that I'd been in before those. 😅
