What's wrong with crossover music?

Absolutely nothing, but there's something wrong with the mindset that people are using in classical music to justify these concerts. For starters, they are not 'beneath' your musicians - if anything, it's an opportunity for them to play music that they like to listen to in their own time. Lots of professional musicians still listen to mainstream pop, and enjoy it. Pop musicians and show singers aren't cash cows that play inferior music, they're a massive part of your overall audience for the calendar year. Be less rude. - For starters, the NZSO has to admit they tried to sneak a peek at my preludes. Admit it, allow APRA to warn you, and write me a cheque. Like, I'm sure you were slightly deferential towards Lawrence Arabia, but you kept on presuming that my classical training wasn't real. Unlike Don, I wasn't in the CSO. You will apologise for not asking Ken, who could have told you I was a complete pro. - I will never perform for NZ Opera, the NZSO or Orchestra Wellington. Sorry. Never. Well, maybe in a decade, but not now. Stop asking. Have lunch with me to licence my music. Commission a new piece from me. Comp my tickets so I can review concerts. Include me in your social lives because you desperately want my aura of political truth. These are all things you can do to improve my financial and social wellbeing, rather than begging me to go on the rack and play my piece so that you can seem woke. That bullshit is why the 27 club exists.
