Wow, I'm very glad that I'm not a politician.


There's a really strong reactionary element in central Wellington. I think that's something that the Government and the Council have been downplaying for the last few years.


And also a rising wave of conservatism globally that New Zealand is part of. - I loved Tangerine, but I think my Dakumentary is something else. I've seen most of Berlin Alexanderplatz, and I'm a big fan of Fassbinder. Matt Zoller Seitz wrote an interesting essay about how Mad Men utilises techniques from Fassbinder films. I tried Von Trier, but his stuff is too arch for me. Adriana from Macca's was really into Nymphomaniac. Sweeney Todd with George Hearn is about arch enough for me. But honestly I'm not into writing operas atm... I wanted to write a musical comedy.
