It's nice that all the politicians are seeing my point, but it isn't changing the university and their recalcitrance to acknowledge that they made me inhuman by limiting my ability to be fully myself.

Regarding drug reform, I don't think Luxon's going to budge based on the doco alone, but it opens the door towards something. Personally, I really think we need to argue a system change rather than incremental gains, even though National is signalling that they're open to incremental change. Bluntly, we've reached the end of the road with incrementalism: medicinal cannabis is widely available, competitively priced and an increasing number of GPs are willing to prescribe it (mine is: hi, Javier). We need a system change that allows adult users to purchase lower-grade cannabis that is primarily for the psychedelic effects rather than the medicinal effects. Regarding my own use ... everyone knows I'm highly anxious, though I haven't been diagnosed with a separate anxiety disorder. The act of smoking itself is anxiolytic, but I'd be open to using a vape given the evidence that I've seen around long-term lung damage that is caused by smoking cannabis regularly for decades. Everyone can smell it all summer anyway... - National is traditionally considered the party of rural New Zealand, so it might be worth considering meth reform ahead of cannabis reform for a wee while, given that it's the drug that is causing the most harm (outside of alcohol). Personally, I think that MDMA reform and psychedelics reform is long overdue, and that Kiwis are increasingly seeing MDMA as non-problematic, given that we're not having those same dehydration deaths that are occurring in Australia. However, MDMA and psychedelics are still tainted by the illegal synthetics or bath salts that are also masquerading as the authentic drugs. Drug checking has been a big win, and something that the Dakumentary barely touches on. - As for my alcohol use: well, I agree that I'm drinking too much, but platitudes and isolation aren't likely to help me with my drinking. However, during editing itself, I'd defend my decision to use dissociatives to create that tabula rasa mindset that allowed me to spend 18 months cutting a 20 hour film. Javier said 15 standard drinks a week was the recommended limit, so that's what I'm aiming to reduce my drinking down to (then maybe fewer drinks later). I don't mind looking a bit like a ghost... it's part of the style.

I've seen Benedict around for ages, but we've never spoken. Glenn McConnell chats to Gary, so I'd seen him around, but we hadn't spoken until I asked him about that Family First petition.
