I'm not keen to improve it. I can read songs on the guitar off piano scores, so it seems like a redundant skill. Plus there's always the classic argument that my sound is distinctive due to my lack of formal piano training. All those clusters and stuff are effective, and I can read well enough to do jazz tunes or anything which doesn't involve too much independence between the left and right hands. I'd also argue that my showtunes are distinctive due to being devised on the guitar and on the computer rather than the piano.

It's so insulting when people presume I can't read music; that's a sign of the elitism that classical musicians bring to guitar and guitarists. Jane liked to point out that she could read a full score, and so can I.
