I don't want to play guitar in public at the moment and this won't change until apologies occur. Ultimately, this is how it all shook out: you basically said my only social value was as a performing monkey, then you tried to literally steal my IP from me. A monkey wouldn't have IP, but if they did you'd be reasonable. My songs and scripts are my legal property, and not yours. Sorry if you were confused... -
If Tory had left and the pressure to be Tina or to return to my alma mater had ceased with an apology, I'd probably have done my gig in Wellington rather than Auckland.
Right now, there is no reason to gig: I have nothing to prove, I have zero desire to perform for bigots, and don't see it as a form of validation as I was a composition major.
NZ can wonder why a world-class musician is protesting by refusing to perform, and the classical music institutions can accept the need to licence Amanda's IP as a method of making a financial contribution to Amanda's wellbeing sans performing. Don't be rude: a few thousand dollars paid to me = rights to Pan's Preludes.
