I've got a tab under my tongue as I type this. I'm taking an acid trip to celebrate my 30th birthday (which is tomorrow). Dakta is in court on Monday. Doug and Francis are apparently appearing on the 20th, and Gary said that the police are considering an importation charge as well as cultivation and supply. - 1. Chippy to the Prime Omelette 'phone away for a day' policy for schools. 'trainwreck' - Gary. Then Hipkins drew attention to another cut: the coalition government are planning to cut public transport discounts for under-25's. 'Help is on the way for low and middle-income Kiwis' - Omelette. 'Start with house prices' - Chloe. - 2. Tākuta Ferris to Nicole McKee Three Strikes laws. Tākuta quoted some paper that called them 'retributive rather than restorative' Q: What is the Minister's intention? A: 'punching down' - Gary. 'This Bill is not fit to be introduced to the House' - Tākuta. Winston had a supplementary that Gary reckoned was in order! Check Hansard. - 3. Dana Kirkpatrick to Nicola Willis Treasury identified 9 fiscal cliffs. 'The biggest fiscal cliff... was Pharmac' - Nicola. Gerry Brownlee watches Question Time twice: 'it isn't an easy thing, day after day, to watch Question Time twice!' - that got a good laugh. 'We are a Government that is committed to fiscal discipline' - Nicola. - 4. Barbara Edmonds to Nicola Willis Tax cuts question. Nicola got really fired up at the end of this question! - 5. Marama Davidson to Chris Bishop Fast-track approvals... very technical and way over my head. 'This House is not a place for speculative attacks' - Brownlee. There's still cops at Question Time -- I find that unnerving. - 6. Mike Butterick to Chris Bishop More RMA reform. Very technical. 'War on Nature' - Gary. 'Ending the war on farmers' - Chris. 'Farmers and growers...' - why does that sound so familiar? 🤣 - 7, Willie Jackson to Tama Potaka 'We saw an increase... of Māori on main benefits [under the last government]' - Potaka. 'There is a consultation process underway with Te Puni Kōkoriki' - Potaka. Then there was some nice duelling in Te Reo... 'The undermining of kaupapa Māori' - Jackson. - 8. Carl Bates to Erica Stanford 'He looks like a walking corpse' - Gary's description of Bates. 'Your means should not determine your destiny' - Erica, speaking out quite passionately about the need to improve equity in education. 'What a load of nonsense' - Gary. - 9. Andersen to Mitchell More police officers have been assaulted since 2018. 33% increase in violent crime. 'New Zealand should be the safest place in the world' - Mark Mitchell. Lots of gang-bashing. The Firearms Authority might be shifting from Police to DIA, and Andersen suggested that this might reduce police safety. - 10. Tamatha Paul to Karen Chour Military boot camps... 'Still punitive; doesn't work' - an interjection; Shanan Halbert? I found Karen Chour difficult to hear, sitting right above ACT. 'Experimenting with our rangatahi' - Willow-Jean Prime. Then the Gallery was cleared for James Shaw's valedictory, so I missed the last two questions. Scores: 1. CH 6, PO 4 2. TF 6, NM 5 3. DK 5, NW 5 4. BE 6, NW 8 5. MD 5, CB 4 6. MB 5, CB 5 7. WJ 7, TP 7 8. CB 5, ES 5 9. GA 6, MM 4 10. TP 8, KC 4
