No, it's not because I'm a plummy toff. It's because I'm a gay plummy toff. A lot of macho bros just can't handle that. Noticeably, the All Blacks didn't care. It's because a lot of people forget that the great orators of the past were great in English as well as in Māori. Yes, despite Api's English having a heavy accent. He was in Parliament for decades, and his descendants might need to reveal the full man thanks to Winston's theatrics. They tried to cut his accented English out of the waiata tape. Thought it diminished him by revealing that he was an imperfect English speaker. Kurt Weill was an imperfect English speaker, yet wrote several notable operas that were entirely in English. Ira Gershwin was an imperfect speaker, yet wrote great lyrics. - Critique: saying 'reo Māori' would be like saying 'the English language' every single time that you refer to it. Māori is simply cleaner and equally accurate. It's fairly obvious from context whether you mean the people or the language. Kōrero Māori or tuhituhi Māori is probably more apropos in an English context. - As for Hori: I thought he was a good teacher, and certainly didn't oppose my identity. Slightly eccentric, but all the brilliant ones are.
