Well, I don't think they're terribly helpful. That's the fans working out how I fit into the canon of NZ rock, while I'm approaching him about doing something professional. Like, we have loads of similarities, but differences as well. When I heard those Mutton Birds records when I was an adult, it struck me how he'd used the rhythm and energy of rock, but still kept this harmonic language which was much more expansive and cinematic than the typical rock song.
