No. You have to respect me as a writer. Asking me to act is about taking away the agency I have as an indie artist. Instead of being able to say whatever I like, I'd have to recite your lines. I'd have to sing your boring bullshit. Please accept that the preludes are available, but I'm not. You have to a) find another virtuoso and b) pay us fairly. One person gets a performance fee of $20,000 or more. One person gets a licencing fee of $35,000 or more. I realise it's expensive, but you're trying to cash in on my mana. You didn't commission it, and you can't perform it. You're playing with house money (state support), so stop being rude. You'd pay that much if Salina wrote a violin concerto that Amalia premiered. I won't do it, so you'll have to tolerate Joel or Rameka or Owen. It isn't going to be expanded for two guitars, particularly not for free. - Cisgender people who can write aren't forced to act in their own material. They're offered contracts and rights of refusal. All I've done is refuse. Nothing changes the reality: I refuse to sing stage or screen roles, or perform a concert. As I said, the theatre community has to stop trying to persuade me. If you want me to come to plays or concerts, any ideas of performing must end. - By avoiding the apology, you've given yourselves no opportunity to negotiate. You called me a pervert that was attracted to children. That was too far. Cease harassing me, even in subtle ways. All you are doing is wasting my time, and wasting yours. Tory's hate hui and subsequent defamatory statement = I'm not budging. Wishing I would sing male roles is deeply transphobic.
The NZSO and NZSM PR machines have to stop with this 'spotlight to do right' shit. You kicked me into the gutter when Tory asked you to. Orchestra Wellington as well. You refused to pay me for the IP unless I performed, so you didn't get the right to use it. Nothing will change my mind. The preludes cannot be discussed further. I'll still end up recording them, but your organisations won't be involved. Sorry, that's the truth. How about you guys demonstrate an inch of the belief that I have? My politics aren't an adjunct to my art. The two are closely linked. - The boycott has proved one thing: my skills are in high demand, but paying me for them is seen as somehow distasteful because…
