I'm not voicing Jo.

Seriously - no.

I may not be a great rock star, but I know a fuckload about musicals.

I want you all to wait until you hear a woman's voice on those songs.

Not Barbara. She's not the right kind of singer .. it's not me either. I have an idea about the sound.

Yeah, kinda like the Beths, but with more punch.

Lots of lyricists and composers make charming demos, but a musical is different.

That's why singers like Indina Menzel and Patti LuPone become famous .. but I'm not that.

I can really sing. But Jo should be a woman. - Here's what I want to be rather than an exclusively 'queer' artist: I'm willing to put gay themes in my shows, but straight people like shows too. That's why I like the Bollywood films: something for everyone.

Seriously, I am not a fan of Gay Wellington. My gay friends have always been outside the scene.

I'm not royally pissed, but I'm certainly holding some grudges.

And that's why I cancelled the feature they all liked. I'm not into pity, redemption or make-nice crap. -

Even though that script was great, people still wanted me to change it, and that wasn't an option.

It was too personal. That's what I mean .. it was too personal to make into a movie because movies are about compromise. While the book can keep all the parts that made the corporate queers uneasy. 😀 - I'm willing to hand off chunks of Shipwrecked on Islands. If a big-name director wanted the script, sure .. that's what writing blockbusters is all about. But that's what the money is for - I'm not keen to collaborate, but if I could sell the script and pocket some change + a story credit and some of my songs, that'd be sweet.

When did voices get worse?

When reading music became a default. In Italy and Spain, it isn't. Until after World War II, opera was usually in the language of the country it was done in, rather than surtitles. As a result, peopl
