Beatles drama - who is to blame?

Well, regarding the competing films, it's obviously Paul. He didn't bother to give Peter and Fran exclusive rights, so Sony tried to nick them. Don thinks he secretly hates all Beatles films, but he liked writing the script for ours. I think a lot of people in showbiz tried to spin it as Paul and Olivia being stubborn, but my view is that Apple Corps wasn't keen on the Sam Mendes films. Sir Peter had been working with them for over a decade. Apple Corps was a joke in the Sony/Disney version. - Apple demonstrated one of the old rockstar principles: small details in the contract. Their branding rights are like the M&Ms in the green room in the old story. Without Beatles logos on the drum kit, they'd instantly be a ripoff movie. - Sony made one huge mistake: each film needed individual estate approval. Their George script was nonexistent; Paul hated their script about him. Without one film for everyone to agree/compromise on, it was easy for Apple to win. - The fatalities are Disney's fault; they gave their director and actors licence to assault Paul. While Peter and Jim may have hoped to lure Michelle back to NZ, I didn't know of that until the script was well on the way. She's an old friend of mine. Peter tells me that Disney aircraft were used to abduct Sir Paul and Michelle. We didn't go in guns blazing; we set lawyers on Sony and Disney. My suspicion is their plans to turn Taylor into a Disney star were behind the vitriol. Imagine might cost them a few billion dollars, but it's legal.
Why did they abduct them? To kill them off after Paul signed over his life and music rights. That's the working theory, at least.
