Where did they stuff up? They claimed they had music rights. That was the alarm bell that the McCartneys recognised as suspicious. Paul's spent most of his life consolidating those. Even I had got a grilling regarding the songs that he wanted me to include on AM 2. He gave me an exemption when I told him that nobody buys my albums. - As I said, I saw a mental image of an empty signature. Didn't realise what it meant until a few days later. Yoko definitely wasn't aware of the Sony project. I'd say it was an attempted coup. - Sir Peter's power play was a successful coup. Looks like they're going to fund his notions. I wasn't kidding when I said Chinese investment was the tiebreaker. The film studios run every idea through algorithms. They thought an R-rated idea wouldn't play in China. Chinese investors feel differently. The script I wrote doesn't have much sex, and the violence is hand-to-hand. There's an air of sexuality, but only one bit where Beatles are getting laid. My musicals are reasonably popular, so it's partly based on that.
Seriously. I think I'm yet to sell a single copy of any albums. It's not as important in New Zealand, where our arts economy is largely state-funded.
