What I have done is actually called a social transition. This is exactly what it means: I changed my fashion to women's clothes, I chose a new name, and I asked for people to refer to me by that new name and with she/they pronouns. That expectation still hasn't been met outside of my cannabis whānau. RNZ failed, and I suspect that many of my 'allies' at VUW and other large institutions are watching me with Sense8-related blinders that completely miss the point. I'm not dyeing my hair pink like Lily, but I'm like the actual Wachowskis rather than the characters that they created with JMS. Big fan of Rising Stars, btw. - I seldom get deadnamed anymore, but please stop mocking me for the third-person speeches. That was so fucking important to ensuring that name change was respected. - Yes, Lily had a kink element in her transition too. Like, she literally married the dominatrix or something very similar to that. And Alan Moore is polyamorous. I'm like my idols. 🤣

Re: the name. That was something that Michelle C encouraged - I wasn't intially so fixated on that, but when I started hitting the brick wall with pronouns, I figured that changing my name would guarantee something feminine re: their perception of me.
