Great song, right? I discovered that Jonathan Tunick found that a mission to orchestrate, and wasn't entirely satisfied with his arrangement of that tune .. said he'd learned things in subsequent decades that might have changed his sound.
If I went to New York, there's an interview with him they made which I want to listen to.

It's funny .. Tunick only got into Broadway arrangements because his lawyer/accountant father had Robert Ginzler as a client and took him to Bye, Bye Birdie.
Tunick was a Juilliard student, and was dazzled by the sound of that score. It's amazing, the original record of Bye, Bye Birdie is something else!! 😀
Then Tunick became his protégé. Tunick's still alive, so I'd track him down if I could, along with Strouse and Harnick.

Guettel doesn't live in NY anymore, so finding him would be a mission. I thought about studying with him when he was in Texas, but wasn't 100% sure.
I'd be keen to interview Jeanine Tesori too, but I'd have to learn more of her scores .. I like her sound, but I'm not an expert on her music.
