Why do I feel weird writing to you…

Well, for anyone who I sense is reading, there’s the cringe/embarrassment of people reading my journal and the imbalance of sharing … plus I feel like if I want to write to someone as busy as a leading political or media figure, I should have something to say that is worth writing. Which I have. I write to Paddy and Chlöe occasionally, and I emailed Grant Robertson recently about the alcohol bill. Plus I wrote to Sinead Boucher during a mania. 😅 - As for Claire Riddell: well, I just barely know her, because cousins on different Islands is pretty estranged. I wrote to my Grandma this week, though. - I feel that my move of cutting ties with my fam and retreating into my mind was safer than my twin’s choices, and that it was effective creatively as well. - I miss the feeling of freedom I had pre-Covid. And the first lockdown: which was when I started regularly drinking as part of my process. I had a blast! 🍺 I have low tolerance for alcohol, so I’m a moderate drinker (4-8 standards is a regular session for me). - Tbh I was generally stoned for the 2020 Election Campaign, and I had a bottle of whisky that I eventually finished. My comments were reactions to the ‘no’ team, and that’s why I use their rhetoric from time to time: it seemed to help resonate with those people, and I definitely changed some minds with my approach. 🍃 - Covid was a low-key experiment with mass surveillance, and I think that’s where some of the opposition to the lockdowns came from. Personally, I was all for the lockdowns, and was advocating the traffic lights during Winter 2022. 🚦 - As for my rants: I’d say the same things. I’m a gossipy bitch, much like the writers I admire. And I rather enjoy antagonising people I like - I reckon that until one has had a fight with one’s friends, the friendship isn’t ‘official.' Friends are people you like, even when they’re flawed or disagreeable. 👍
