What's come from reflecting on Islam and Palestine?

As I said when the various Islamic groups were first questioning us about the opera, the whole point was that in making it, we'd somehow reflect ourselves through a new lens. There's been lots of people discovering that my research into sex and gender resonated with a lot of Māori thoughts on those topics, particularly pre-contact norms. And I think the footage of Palestine has begun to break down that colour barrier that was becoming rather tedious. There are white people with whakapapa, though it's a small group. As I also said, New Zealand men aren't adventurous lovers, and the opera certainly seems to have kicked a few up the arse. This is all conceptual, though, as it's not like we've done a full production of The Perfumed Garden yet. The workshop is still on my list of plans, but Dave A is far too busy.
