The plot thickens... If I'm not mistaken, they've identified that Olga, my paternal grandmother, was also Māori. Explains the Carmen connection. Ngāti Haua. Strengthens the Kīngitanga connection. - Why doesn't this happen all the time? Iwi whakapapa books are usually kept in the tribe. With the National Library searching, they were willing to open them up. It wasn't specifically an ancestry search initially. It was about verifiying the Puhihuia story. So it's impossible to prove independently, but I haven't received any emails saying not to be Māori or to take down the whakapapa. That was just my family. My uncle requested to see them. Hasn't hassled me since.
