Michelle, no apology or pretend apology is going to change my mind. And no, nothing that you can say or do will ever persuade me to give the rights to the Tina film away to VUW for free. They have to pay me, and that is non-negotiable.
I don't want to pretend for people that called me a pervert, attempted to convert me back to being a cis man with frustrated urges, and threatened me with criminal charges in order to manufacture consent (even though I still said no). I'm not going to budge until they accept their complete and utter defeat regarding the copyrights.
Meesh, you have to stop now. That is fair and reasonable.
No 'tina ha ae' only 'no tina for bigots, no way of persuading me, and those songs are clearly copyrighted, as are the Just Like Yesterday stories' -
That is the only fair, legally acceptable, legally valid, action.
Tina = no deal, only no, and I won the legal fight regarding the copyrights.
That is the only fair, sane, stable, rational and legally valid response.
I will never consent to doing an MA and filming Tina for VUW.
I will never consent to funding to film Tina, and Ainsley will accept that. -
The reason that I am allowed to say this is because I wrote those scripts and songs.
That means that they are indeed my property, and I can choose to use them how I wish.
To start with, Tina NEVER had any of the shipwrecked EP songs in any draft of the script.
To follow on, I clearly advertised the 2030 Shipwrecked screenplay.
To go on further than that, I clearly demonstrated authorship and I've registered the songs with APRA.
To go even further, I've written a significant amount of a book based on the Tina script, which means that the rights are currently unavailable.
These are undisputed facts.
You had a different vision of how to use my material, but I refused to buy into it. Pithy summation: Creative differences happen all the time: stop moaning that I refuse to be your star, and get busy following my template and start telling your own stories about yourselves.
There is no justification for Cass's behaviour. She didn't just overrun my legal rights.
She made me feel like shit. She made me feel like I was trapped in a dungeon.
She never asked for consent.
There's no justification for Tory's actions either. Whether the complaints were real or not, I still would expect the police to actually speak to me regarding those. So, hence, if the police never spoke to me regarding my penis, it's reasonable to accept that I was legally correct: I was wearing trousers and undies and therefore wasn't indecently exposing myself, despite the slut-shaming. You guys bought into anti-trans hysteria, and then used that as a justification to be rude to me about my social media…
