The commodification of rock

Well, the idea of doing festival gigs or touring as a freak says it all: rock has become commodified and isn't really a place for meaningful protest music. I feel similarly about folk and a bunch of other genres that are traditionally associated with protests and left-wing causes. Unlike Don, I'm quite keen to write protest songs. Jazz, on the other hand, still has some currency as protest music imo. Worked great in my documentary!
