I know that the hormones etc. are more stable than it was in the 1970's - I made my decision with up-to-date information. When I was coming out, one of the books that was a major touchstone was Far From the Tree by Andrew Solomon, which is a must-read for any parent.
Plus Migrating Genders and the third gender literature.
I realised when I was 13 or 14 that puberty blockers were a real thing, but that wasn't realistic given Christchurch at the time. On the plus side, I'm still a lot more feminine re: body shape than most guys.
That's why I thought I might be intersex, but it's hereditary - my brother Phil has the wide hips too.

As for classical voice and hormones - there's a reason that people usually stick to their fach regardless of gender: I'm seriously a freak who can project up high because I know what my fach is - which is Baryton-martin.
It's super-rare. That's why people are surprised: but for non-musos, it's a baritone with a really good falsetto.
Hormones would weaken my voice. That's not a point in their favour. I can laser off the body hair, but I like the hairy legs - I like that it challenges women. I reckon a lot of women have always wondered if shaving their legs is worth the hassle, and I reckon it isn't.

But yeah, I'm attracted to masculine women. It's pretty obvious if you watch my films;
I'm feeling more confident about my stubble too - it's useful. I dunno if I'd grow the full beard back, but who knows?
