Hi Paddy: why do I want to leave the Commonwealth? Well, China is our major trading partner, and it's not like we do a lot of business with most of those Carribean Commonwealth nations (or Canada for that matter). I mean, I love the West Indies, but we're a Pacific nation obsessed with exporting dairy. A lot of pollies talk about how NZ should be more involved in the Asia-Pacific region, and I totally reckon that the monarchy is holding us back in that regard. - To crack a joke: I bet more Kiwis would agree to become the 51st state of the US rather than continue on being governed by the UK. Well, at least until Trump was elected. 🤣 -- I'm glad that this coalition negotiation is causing Luxon to become less of a Trump and more of a Key. He's still expert at deflecting the media; I think we all need to get together and strategise about how to break through his teflon. I'll bring the weed lol.
