Gary and I caught all the speeches by the leaders of the various political parties. Each one was 20 minutes long, and I yawned during a few. Labour = dry but reasonable. National = attacking, no policy ideas. Greens = pretty good. Act = better than National. Had some policy ideas. Māori = easily the best speech. All the pro reporters were there in the Press Gallery, but I don't think any of them stayed to hear Debbie's speech. She sounded the most believable, and her anecdotes all tied into the main point of supporting Māori communities, and using mātauranga as part of the climate solution. - Jacinda was absent: Gary said that this was political strategy - standing orders mean that people can't reference MP's who are absent during speeches .. that's what Gary said, anyway. - Another bit of standing order fun: "starts with an h, ends in ipocrisy" - James Shaw .. apparently MP's can't use the word hypocrisy, or call other MP's liars. 🤣 - Got high afterwards - some DMT, plus some weed. The film night is looking like it'll work. The space is free to rent if the event is catered by the people who own the space. Having had their food at Gary's 60th, it was awesome, and I'd recommend it. $100-a-head for a trip-inclusive evening. Covers catering costs, and subsidises the drugs.
