It was originally titled For Meesh (Michelle Cameron). I'd had that vamp for a long time, but I expanded it after Tory Whanau's Arts Policy Fundraiser/hate hui. Literally the same evening, after seeing that the Greens were spying on my wanks. Not just that; they also said they hated me and wished me to only be a man. That's my response, which is a sweet Samoan-inflected piece. It's an igi strum: A/D, G/D. The first one sounds like a mumajor chord. - They didn't want me as the face of the queer community, only a patient ally. As a result, I've always thought that the Greens are queerwashing their politics. Visibility is a problem for them; they want it, but most of us find them hard to trust. Events like the hate hui are why they're hard to trust. As I say, a lot of closet cases lust after us. All political parties have those types. A lot of misandry takes place, not just misogyny.
With guitar chords, it's important to note that a lot of shapes have inverted triads. A/D doesn't indicate the order of the notes (1,2,5,7 ; D, E, A, C# [10th position]). With that in mind, the mumajorness is obvious. When the tune comes in, it hammers on, alternating the 7th and 9th + the 2nd and the 3rd.
