Well, I essentially felt that outing people was important in a small community, but I also made the mistake of presuming that everyone who had disclosed to me had also disclosed to most people. I wasn't really aware that people were particularly comfortable with confiding orientations to me. To me, a democratic society is also a very open society. People can quibble with that, but that's obviously my belief if you read my screenplays and how-to guides, alongside my particularly robust candor. I mean, anti-discrimination hinges on identification. In that sense, it is literally identity politics!
