My mind wandered into my notebook a bit over the last few days... Tuesday Flipped Brian Tamaki the bird from the benches beside the High Court. Man Up goons appeared in the gallery... I wonder if that was related. Wednesday Quick compare and contrast with yesterday: Tamaki had more people, but it's the similarity of the rhetoric that fascinates me: everyone thinks that they're a freedom fighter! Plus these are essentially led by political parties, though it takes a liberal definition of 'party' to equate Freedoms NZ with Labour or the Greens. Even with earplugs - thanks for providing those, organisers - it was super-loud! 'party political event' - is that a real phrase? How good is the soundproofing in the Beehive? Thursday I'm so sick of this 'make the nice script' bullshit 1. I prefer Seinfeld to Friends. 2. It's my choice, not the community: this attitude from funding bodies is old news to me .. their conservatism vs. my bold visions is precisely why VUW and the Film Commission haven't ever funded a previous project of mine. It's not like we haven't tried. We've applied for funding, and failed, several times. Plus Shipwrecked 2030 could be my Hamilton. That's my attitude. - Given the success that Chloe has had getting money from the Commission and NZ on Air, I doubt she's familiar with that type of failure: she's lived a charmed life.
