It's mostly the moral superiority of the public service which pisses me off. That was true of RNZ, too: do-gooders and smugness tend to go together. Nice, but smug. I also reckon the public sector spends a lot of time celebrating itself, while the country has fallen apart over the last decade. It's easy to blame the Government for cutting back on spending (well, until Jacinda won the 2017 Election 🤣), but the perceptions of bloat and worsening inequity suggest some of the rot might lie with the civil service. Long story short, while I think National over-eggs the consultants thing, I do sort-of agree with them that the public service isn't that great. and probably wasting a lot of taxpayer money. See, it's not all negative from me about the Natzees.
