Look, you're missing the point. I'm already in the top echelon. As a rhythm/improvising guitarist, I'm heading for GOAT territory. As a classical guitarist, I'm like a highly ranked tennis or golf player. As a pop and show singer, I'm like Mandy Patinkin or Paul. Levelling up to be a great opera singer isn't a goal of mine. - Despite all these plaudits, my songs and my compositions are still better. They're from some other place -- it's not heritage or technique, but the blend of both. There's a pretty clear view that I'm probably the GOAT Polynesian composer. Māori composers are more numerous, but I'm making my mark.
As for my language skills: 2030 is a while away. I'd been planning to take Samoan for years, but haven't really looked into it. Hopefully I'll be able to sort out my shit and get a National Library Fellowship in 2029. Keen to come in and chat with Norman. He taught my brother, but I know him slightly.
