Imagine Triptych thoughts

Listening through all my albums with Paul, so I thought I'd write some stuff about our new trilogy of films ahead of Get Out And Vote! airing tonight. Firstly, the albums are supposed to be slightly different to the films. They have a different purpose. The films are essentially polemics. - Paul's been planning to do something for the 2026 midterms since Trump won again. I was only planning to do something for the New Zealand general election, but they found that the videos worked in most global contexts. My plan was to write lots of satirical songs anyway, so it worked out very well. - Sir Paul and Apple Corps tell me that these silly cartoons have made billions, so people are probably forming lots of opinions that are based on hype rather than our movies. These are experimental art movies, not mainstream cinema. Perhaps that's their strength: by paring back all the insanity, they're more moving. I'm a bit of a film theory buff, and I've been making films like this for four years. The point is that the Anthropocene is here and we've got to keep carrying on anyway. Personally, I think it's great that our hippie anti-war protests are grabbing people, and we've got some more material in that vein. These films weren't manufactured or promoted by the war machine: they were hits in activist circles, not in boardrooms. Despite the support from notable pop stars, almost nobody was willing to work on these. I tried to beg off finishing Get Out And Vote, and got told that nobody else would do it. Hence the new song/video about tradwives: I thought I was out of ideas! - What's going on with Taylor? She's writing a film with me, but she's too chicken to pick up the phone. Don't have her number or her address. I use Sir Paul as a go-between. - Why did this make so much money? All the Beatles hits are sixty years old. These new songs have the same energy, but fresh themes. I think it's also because people are sick of seeing crap lipsync. Instead of a cheesy Disney cartoon musical or a typical music video, it's something else. It's also deep(ish), but something that kids can watch with their parents.
Get Out And Vote! definitely pushes the envelope further re: taboos and nudity.
