No, because I'll never get another go if I fail. I won't get to make them put on my symphony if the piece fails. It's not a commission; there's no contractual requirement.
There are many guitarists in Australasia who are competent enough. The X-factor will come about via multiple rehearsals, not one half-hour sightread. That's what most orchestras do, which is why new music is usually half-arsed. Allow Joel Baldwin to do it with three rehearsals. - If I do it, then it'll allow my enemies to continue slagging me off. Everyone will assume: 1. I play by ear and can't read. 2. That some prick from the NZSO or NZSM 'fixed' my parts.
That's what happened with Portrait of a Knight and my early videos.
I'm as legitimate a classical composer as my peers. Salina doesn't have to do all her music... Sarah Ballard doesn't... Reuben doesn't...
