Well, you can choose not to believe me, but I've learned some interesting shit this year.
What shits me about the Chloe scandal is they clearly covered up some previous ones too. Only the Greens could do that. Labour and National don't have such good relations with the media.
Act wouldn't hide it (yes, that's a pro-Act statement), and NZ First would blame everyone. -
Like, if Karen Chhour had lost the plot totally and spent a day under observation, that would've been news. It was when Jami-Lee Ross did.
While Chloe was held for a couple of days and put under a CTO, yet that wasn't news. That's what I gathered from the back channel. I'm done with pretending that it doesn't exist: the pollies have been interacting with me in various ways since 2021, and earlier in Jacinda's case. -
The Greens have this cozy relationship where journalists and staffers are nearly interchangeable. When the Greens were unambiguously the good guys, that was fine, but they're not now. For example, I met Johnny Blades as a journalist covering Gary for RNZ, and then a year later he's a senior staffer popping his head out to remind me that this shit is a big deal.
If you're scared of me, Green Party people, it's because you haven't bothered to get to know me because you see me as socially inferior. That seems pretty suspicious from a party that has a significant rainbow vote. Are you really saying that you refuse to interact with a trans person in slightly dodgy housing that still has the guts to come and queer the House? Even though I'm not queer, but that's how it comes off. When I was cis and straight, people thought I was stable, responsible and emotionally attentive. I'm still most of those things.
