I read a book on tap dancing, and it said Astaire incorporated mistakes into his routines. That's what I aim to do. From a mainstream pop angle, they're demos, but they're improvised part by part. The song is challenging Taylor to improvise and put real jazz into her Baby Face score. She's too whakamā to write 'black' music atm. Tell Me, Dear was inspired by Conversations With Myself and Get Back (the doco). It's the same ethos that underpins my physical comedy.
All my solo albums are DIY bedroom pop. That's where I make them.
