While he's probably still third-best, I think his post-Beatles lyrics are the best by a mile. Unlike the other two, he uses rhyme and meter in a classical fashion. Almost all of his lyrics use perfect rhymes. He was also a friend of Sondheim, much like Michael and Jermaine Jackson. That's why George's lyrics are subtler than Paul's or John's.
