foreign policy

Writer: Amanda RiddellAmanda Riddell

Since I formed AMPP, I'm suddenly more interested in the foreign news. Probably as a result of the radical foreign policies that I suggested, but also that I'm finding myself bored far more often in this boarding house than the last place. I realise that some of my friends are quite shocked by some of the things that TPM says, but honestly I'm a member and that's because I generally agree with what the team says. However, I have my own ideas around certain political hobbyhorses of mine, which is what AMPP is for. 👋 - For the serious-minded: this is essentially the ginger group that wants to legalise weed and other drugs. So, it's open to everyone, and I'd much rather have some transparent discussions about policy reform around the Parliamentary precinct so we can correct this injustice (and cash in*). - That gives me an idea: If I'm in the Press Gallery, then I might attempt to get some interviews lined up with politicians, or figure out some kind of video thing to do. Some ACC-type stuff. - I'm also very serious about the social reforms and universal healthcare; weed might be the main reason that I'm in politics, but I'm well-educated and well-informed: if people can get over their ick about my transvestism, I'm quite a good conversationalist. *for those who like economic motivations! 💰 - I'd rather troll them from outside the building than tone it down, so that's something for Gerry to consider. I'm certainly not as keen to come to a National-led Parliament, so that's why I'm fairly blase about this whole vibe. - Snark for the disappointed people: so, you wanted me to set up this TV show so that I could deal you weed? That's insulting, and that's why I'm insisting on real-life agitating about the safe consumption centers, as I think that's far more important for the cannabis community, and then all my square friends who were too afraid to come to the Daktory can experience the joys of a weed club. If you'd been there, you'd know why I think the Uruguay model is the future. ✊ - Tory fobbed me off once about the safe consumption center, but with more support from people then it might become a reality. I think the core focus for my post-election politics should be to spruik medical weed, ensuring that middle-class stoners are aware that there's THC weed that they can readily access via their pharmacist. I think that should be a messaging campaign for the NZ Drug Foundation too, as well as all the various weed activists. I've done my bit, of course, but I feel like emphasising that it's really a good idea, and that the Auckland Police have set a precedent that allows us all to open up our own prescription weed-only consumption centers.
