Welcome to Fantasy Parliament, a strategic and engaging game that allows you to form your fantasy coalitions and compete to score points based on the performance of your selected Members of Parliament (MPs) during Question Time in a parliamentary session. Here are the rules and guidelines for playing Fantasy Parliament: Game Objective: The objective of Fantasy Parliament is to form a coalition, select 25 MPs, and maximize your points based on their performance in parliamentary Question Time. Formation of Coalitions:
Each player forms their own fantasy coalition, consisting of 25 MPs. The coalition can be based on real-world political parties, or you can create your own fictional parties.
You can form your coalition by selecting MPs from available parties, and you have the freedom to choose the composition of your coalition.
You are allowed to have two MPs in your coalition who are not part of the coalition's primary parties. These MPs are tradeable on a monthly basis.
Scoring System:
Points are awarded based on the performance of your selected MPs during Question Time in a parliamentary session.
MPs in your coalition can earn up to 10 points each, based on their effectiveness, articulation, and contributions during Question Time.
If your party speaks during Question Time but not one of your MPs, you will receive half the points that your party earns.
The two outside MPs you have selected are also eligible to earn points, and you receive the full points for their performance.
Monthly Trades:
Each month, you can make trades for your two outside MPs. You can replace them with new MPs, potentially from different parties, based on your strategic considerations.
All points earned by your outside MPs will transfer to the new owner if they are traded to another player.
Setting the Calendar:
The game calendar aligns with real-world parliamentary sessions, with each session typically lasting for a month.
Points are calculated at the end of each parliamentary session, and a winner is declared based on the total points accumulated throughout the game.
League Play:
Fantasy Parliament can be played individually or in a league with multiple players.
In league play, players can compete against each other to determine who has the most effective fantasy coalition.
Game Variations: Players can introduce additional rules and variations to the game to add complexity and strategy. For example, they can implement rules related to coalition negotiations, coalition dissolution, or special events that impact the political landscape. Fair Play and Sportsmanship:
Fantasy Parliament is intended for friendly competition and fun. Please practice fair play and sportsmanship at all times.
Respect other players and their choices in forming coalitions and making trades.
While it's a competitive game, remember that it's all in good fun and should not lead to any negative interactions.
Final Scoring: The winner of Fantasy Parliament is determined by the player with the highest total points earned by their coalition of MPs at the end of the game.
Enjoy playing Fantasy Parliament and may the best coalition strategist win!
re: scoring system (number 2): this means that if, say, the Leader of the Opposition is on your team and is involved in four questions, you get a score out of 10 based on all the questions that they're asking rather than getting a share of 40 points. Hopefully that makes the game more balanced. 👍
